Orange County Dropout Prevention Summit

Orange County United Way, in partnership with America’s Promise Alliance, hosted a Dropout Prevention Summit on Feb. 19, 2009 at Tiger Woods Learning Center in Anaheim from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The event convened key stakeholders who addressed the problem of school dropouts and developed a localized action plan for the cities of Santa Ana and Anaheim to increase graduation rates and ensure that Orange County’s youth are better prepared for college, work and life.

WALK UNITED at Angel Stadium

Orange County United Way is proud to announce a partnership with the Angels Baseball Foundation for WALK UNITED, a family-friendly community walk and resource fair – hitting Angel Stadium on Sunday, June 7, 2009 from 7:30 a.m. – 2 p.m.!

Proceeds and sponsorships from the event will support Orange County families and individuals who are lacking their most basic of needs including food, shelter, medical and emergency services. Gather your friends, family, co-workers and neighbors as we WALK UNITED to strengthen our community step-by-step.

Women’s Summit LIVE

More than 240 attendees joined for Orange County United Way’s 1^st Annual Women’s Summit last September at Allergan.  The summit was designed to educate attendees on current issues facing women and girls in Orange County by exploring their greatest needs and available resources, as well as gather information by participants to assist United Way to close gaps in services throughout the community.

The event was a huge success and has created United Way’s 1st pilot program for women and girls in Orange County (more to come). Check out the videos from the summit below to hear topics and discussions that were lead by Orange County community leaders.
